DO YOU WONDER WHAT LIVING AN ALIGNED LIFE LOOKS LIKE AND HOW WATCHING IT CAN CHANGE YOU
I was supposed to be in London at the weekend. Bon Jovi, some old friends I've had for decades, and then on to Spain to hike the Camino. The Universe then made it clear that wasn't the plan, and when something stops flowing I've learned to stop pushing.
Committed to BE in Denver, when I was offered a Garth Brooks ticket on Labor Day weekend...I said: Sure! BEcause nobody says no to Garth. But before you stop reading: This newsletter isn't about a Garth concert - it's about what happened to me & what I saw at a Garth concert.
Let's BE clear. I am not a country music fanatic. I haven't proactively played his, or any genre of country music, in my house in decades. I remember him when I was much younger, I've watched his documentary. That's about it.
I wasn't thinking about this concert all week. I barely made it to my friend's house on time, did my makeup last minute & grabbed a cowgirl hat to wear, BEcause there are not many occasions in life where you get to wear one. Hee haw. I wasn't fantasizing about this evening.
Then all I recall is he walked out on stage, and until the moment he left, it was a completely spiritual experience.
Did I watch a great performer? Obviously. Did I sing along with a crowd? Yes. Was it entertainment? Of course it was. Everyone saw his magnetism. Everyone saw his crowd engagement. Everyone loved the old favorites and screamed along.
And...while music moves a crowd, this wasn't what changed me. BEcause I saw something different. Something happened inside me.
I saw a man living in complete alignment with his life, which is a very powerful thing to witness.
It was his LOVE. For the crowd. For his people. For the music. For what he does. It took him three songs to introduce his band, BEcause he kept stopping to tell stories about them and their talents. Really meaningful stories.
Then he basically stopped playing from the set list and spent a good 20 minutes playing songs from handwritten signs held up by fans in the crowd, or what he could see on the jumbotron (songs that neither he nor his band had rehearsed). He said out loud about one song I don't recall the name of and wasn't popular, "I have no idea how this is going to go, I don't think we've ever played this on a tour, this might suck." And then he strummed out a few verses and a chorus anyway. The people with the signs will never forget that experience. And neither will I. Ever.
What I witnessed was a man completely in his masculine, leading with love for his life, his job and the audience that helped him achieve it. He had no shortage of openly expressing how much he loved his life and repeatedly (but in a totally authentic way) kept saying how he was the luckiest guy alive. It wasn't performance. He wasn't trying to "get" love back. He didn't even need to use words, you just saw it. You felt it. I've never experienced a concert quite like it - because this wasn't "just" a concert.
It was a man living his purpose and unafraid to be exactly as he is, operating fully in alignment. He showed us what it's like to be embodied, and it seeped from every pore.
He was not trying to be a performer. He wasn't trying to be a musician. He wasn't trying to be a sex symbol (I keep getting asked that). NO. He was having the freaking time of his life up there.
My favorite moment came between songs. He explained he doesn't wear earpieces inside his ears BEcause if he did, it would block out hearing the BEauty of the crowd singing with him. Then he said, "You guys get to see me. But let me tell you what I get to see."
And he went around the arena pointing...
"These two girls right here, you've been holding onto each other all night long, dancing and singing. Not letting go. Not once."
"All of you up in the nosebleeds, the seats everybody says are the worst in the building, you've been standing and cheering this whole time."
Then he pointed at a man in the crowd. "I don't know what this cat's name is, white shirt, white hat turned backwards, but I will play for you every F-ing night of my entire life."
And then shouted, "Thank you so much for this life."
Forget he's famous. Forget the arena and the lights and the production. To watch any human BEing be that deliriously drunk with their own life, that grateful for what they created, is very infectious.
Something else affected me that night that was more personal.
I've been very specific about the divine masculine man I'm calling in when I do my manifestation practice. A man in full alignment with his life. A heart wide open. Unafraid to love, courageous AF and unafraid to show it.
And there I was, watching a man do exactly that in front of tens of thousands of people. I'm not saying Garth Brooks is the man I'm calling in. Clearly. What I'm saying is that I recognized it. I saw the thing I've been writing down showing up right in front of me in another form, and I BElieve that when that starts happening, it means you're close.
I'm saying this to you BEauties. When you see your desires in physical form, there is zero need to be sad, jealous or envious. Know that you're a witness to it BEcause it's YOUR desire and you're just that much closer.
He then asked the crowd who had seen him before and who was there for the first time. He said that for people to come once and show up for you is incredible, but "for you to come back again, that is a massive gift." And as he said it he took his hat off. A hats-off, to his people.
I immediately thought of each of you.
Of the man who came in 365 days in a row and ordered the Enchanted Salad every day for a full year. Or of Toni, who has been buying our meal plans for over a year. Or the Baileys, Meg M. or Michelle D who have been OGs since the BEginning. Or the family that comes every year when they fly into Vail for vacay.
Or...Amanda, who has been with us since the very early days and just reached out to HAVE HER WEDDING at LOHI after her and her fiance had their first date at the restaurant!
Even those of you who come in once a week, or once a month, or whenever you're in the neighborhood. You are choosing us. You are choosing me. You are choosing JBK.
I fully understand that every single dollar is spent is by someone experiencing Mindful Mouthfuls for the first time, or who is actively choosing to come back and experience it again when the choices are unlimited. It is NOT lost on me.
I went to a concert I didn't plan on, in a city I wasn't supposed to be in, wearing a hat I almost never get to wear, and I left with what I can only describe as a transformative experience.
Garth Brooks has an arena. I have you. And I want you to know that I do not take a single one of you for granted and I wanted to say so out loud.
Again, this newsletter may seem like it's about Garth. But it's really about what it's like to see someone deliriously drunk on life, living in alignment, how you can know you're closer to your manifestations and living in gratitude.
Quite a lot to get from a $150 ticket to a band eh?
BE Well, Jen xxx
P.S. I don't necessarily need a man in a cowboy hat to remind me of this BEautiful community we have that chooses to come in and have our Mindful Mouthfuls, but I'm also not mad about a guy with blue eyes and a cowboy hat reminding me.
