This Wellness Tool Is How I Blew My Heart Open

I'm going to share about a wellness tool that I have found to BE transformative and it's written from the perspective not of a doctor, a healer, a plant medicine expert or scientist, it's from the perspective simply of a girl who has big dreams, deep desires and a thirst for the juiciness of life.

The first time I did plant medicine, a friend asked if I'd be interested and we flew to LA to sit with a shaman and a group of people for an ayahuasca journey.

I'm glad I did it. I'm not in a hurry to do it again. We were up for nearly twenty four hours and I was wrecked for a good day and a half afterward, and the juice wasn't worth the squeeze for that much exhaustion. Nothing bad happened. It was a beautiful taste of something. It just cost my body more than I wanted to pay.

Two or three years later I tried psilocybin with the same friend, much lower dose, much shorter. Beautiful, and more psychedelic than therapeutic. No downloads, no big understanding, just a lovely few hours.

The third journey was with my BEst friend and a psilocybin blend, and that one gave me actual downloads, and I think it's BEcause it had a heart-opening component to it. That was the difference. She then introduced me to a medicine that is purely a heart opener, and that is the one that has fundamentally changed my life.

I started in early 2025 and it has been the biggest hug of love.

The heart-opening medicine has been a beautiful wellness tool for me BEcause, for me (and I can't speak for anyone else), medicine like ayahuasca and, to a degree, psilocybin have been crunchier. There's a bit more darkness, a bit more severity. What I've decided in life is that, in anything that I do, I want to learn through joy and love rather than through pain or suffering. I know that seeing things in a harsh way can often initiate change. Perimenopause for me showed a lot of harsh things in my life, which created change, and I'm grateful for that. Generally, I want to have the intention to learn in a more gentle, more loving way, so heart openers for me, in terms of a plant medicine tool, have been the game changer.

You may have heard that setting is important when doing a plant medicine journey or ceremony, and I have found that to be true in my experience. I will often start with an intention for the ceremony, and that may be that I ask to be shown what I'm blocking or where my resistance is to something I desire. Sometimes I ask for a different perspective on a situation that I'm working my way through. I may ask for the path of least resistance to allow myself to receive something that I desire. In the end, regardless of the intention, it always gives me exactly what I need, even if it's not exactly what I ask for.

What it gives me are downloads of pure love and peace, and a sense of peace about whatever I happen to be carrying.

What I have found is that the answers come...from what is already inside me. The medicine simply allows me access to wisdom already within me, some of it conscious and some of it buried, and the medicine shines a light and a whole lot of love on it so it can be seen through a different lens.

Let me give you a real example.

My mother and I have always had a challenging relationship. For a long time, when someone asked me about her, I'd say we were on different healing journeys. I BElieve this is true AND I also believe that the relationship has kept me the most true and thirsty to consistently explore my own growth and healing and for that I am grateful. That relationship has continued to push me to let go and let God, to not whine and instead heal the wound and a 1000 other things that have made me who I am today.

The medicine showed me something I had not yet reached on my own exploration. My mom simply wants to be loved like everyone else...and her capacity to love is as large as the vessel within in her to receive love.

We hold so much inside, we make so many assumptions about events or people. We take it all so personal. But what we forget is that very little of anyone else's actions are about us. The medicine gave me the ability to see that my mom has her own capacity to love, which has nothing to do with my inability to BE loved.

For me, every medicine journey takes me deeper into softening. Staying tender. It has taught me to not always harden or close up, even when every single cell in my body wants to in order to protect myself.

I had something happen with a man last summer that hurt me deeply, and the medicine is a large part of why I didn't harden around it. I stayed tender, and I worked HARD at that, and eventually I ended up deeply grateful for the experience. That's a story I'm writing a series on, soon.

The medicine has healed wounds around my parents that had been open a long time. It's given me more confidence in who I am and what's possible. It's shown me my own gifts in a more expanded sense than I'd seen them before. And it's given me the ability to look at my past through a lens of love vs shame or judgment or anger.

The magic is integrating the wisdom of a journey into your daily routine, your regular life. It's coming up against something hard and still putting the wisdom to practice (whatever that wisdom may BE for you). The medicine showed me the loving perspective. And living from that loving perspective is the work.

I'm not here to tell you to do plant medicine. I'm not here advocating for it, that's not a deep passion of mine. I'm simply here to share the tools in the wellness space that have healed, helped or given me hope, so I can be more pointed towards my own "True North" and achieve my deepest desires.

And, my BEauties, I want that for you too. However you get there.

BE Well, Jen xxx

P.S. No, I do not sell, grow, make or whatever else one does with plant medicine xxx I simply use it as a tool to blow my heart open. xxx
